A BILL

To amend the Diplomatic Security Act to require that congressional notifications relating to decisions to re-open high risk, high threat diplomatic posts include an explanation of the national security value of such decision.

Section 1. Short title

This Act may be cited as the Safe Embassies Act.

Sec. 2. Modification to congressional notifications

Paragraph (1) of section 105(b) of the Diplomatic Security Act (22 U.S.C. 4804(b)) is amended by inserting , including a detailed explanation of the national security value of re-opening such a post before the period at the end.
