Ms. Smith (for herself and Ms. Klobuchar) introduced the following bill; which was read twice and referred to the Committee on Finance
To amend the Act of October 19, 1973, to increase the maximum dollar amount of per capita shares for purposes of eligibility for financial assistance or other benefits under Federal or federally assisted programs, and for other purposes.
Section 1. Tax exemption; resources exemption limitation
(a) In general
Section 7 of the Act of October 19, 1973 (25 U.S.C. 1407), is amended, in the undesignated matter following paragraph (4), by striking $2,000
and inserting $5,000
.
(b) Technical corrections
Section 7 of the Act of October 19, 1973 (25 U.S.C. 1407), is amended—
(1)
in paragraph (1), by striking , or
and inserting a comma; and
(2)
in paragraph (4), by striking cede
and inserting ceded
.
